Before you submit. This is a newsroom tip line. It is not legal advice, and nobody here will act on your behalf or pursue anything for you. If you have lost money, the free routes are your bank, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Action Fraud, and the FCA consumer helpline on 0800 111 6768. All four are free.

We hold tips for 12 months and then purge them. We never ask how much you lost and we never assess whether you have a claim.

If you have lost money

These four routes are free to use. Take them in this order.

1. Your bank — Contact your bank immediately. Under the reimbursement rules banks must investigate authorised push payment fraud claims.
2. Financial Ombudsman Service — Free, independent adjudication if your bank or provider rejects your complaint.
3. Action Fraud — The UK's national reporting centre for fraud and cybercrime.
4. FCA consumer helpline — 0800 111 6768 — For questions about whether a firm is authorised and what protection you have.

We do not assess claims, estimate compensation, or put readers in touch with solicitors or claims management companies. There is nothing to pay for any of the routes above.

How we handle tips

One-way intake. You get a plain acknowledgement, nothing more.
Tips are never published by default and are not readable by anyone outside the newsroom.
We name a firm or person only where an authoritative public source does, or where we can stand it up.
Purged automatically after 12 months.
