Independent UK reporting on scams, fraud and financial harm

Fraud type hub

Scam types and how they work

Every fraud follows a pattern. Recognising the type tells you what to check before any money moves. Filter the latest warnings and our reports by company, website, phone number or category.

How we curate this feed

  • Regulator sources: the Financial Conduct Authority Warning List is polled hourly and every entry links back to the original FCA page.
  • Our reporting: explainers and news are tagged by scam type, edited by a named editor and carry a public change log.
  • No claims advice: this is information, not a service that assesses whether you can recover money. For that, contact your bank, the Financial Ombudsman Service, Action Fraud or the FCA consumer helpline.
